Holiday Greetings From the U.S. Postal Inspection Service
It’s hard to believe the holidays are upon us, and another year is drawing to a close. Wasn’t it just yesterday we were basking in the summer sun’s warm rays?
Nevertheless, I’ve always thought the holidays are a good way to help us celebrate the arrival of winter. I have plenty of special memories of holidays past — of warm embraces from loved ones, the smells and tastes of all those holiday goodies, and yes, those presents!
As part of the oldest federal law enforcement agency, all of the 2,400 Inspectors, Postal Police Officers, and technical and support employees who make up our Postal Inspection Service work hard every day to ensure that your packages and mail arrive in excellent condition.
We aren’t just dedicated law enforcement professionals. We are also mothers, fathers, spouses, sons and daughters — and we count on the Postal Service to deliver our packages the same way you do.
That’s why we take the safety of your mail so seriously, and why we work so hard on a number of different fronts to ensure it. The Postal Inspection Service takes a comprehensive, community-based approach to mail theft and other security issues, as well as to prevention through public outreach and education, through increased law enforcement presence, and through partnering with other law enforcement agencies to arrest mail thieves.
We’re relentless in our efforts. But, you need to do your part to help ensure those special cards and packages are sent and arrive to their destinations safely. We have some important tips you can use not just during the holidays, but all year long. Please take a moment to look at these — as they say, knowledge IS power.
All of us at the Postal Inspection Service hope you and your loved ones have a safe, healthy and happy holiday season. Enjoy all of the sights, sounds and tastes this season has to offer!
